A motorcyclist was killed early Saturday in a collision on Interstate 5 in Chula Vista and authorities later arrested a driver who returned to the scene.

According to OnScene.TV, the motorcycle was heading north near Main Street around 3 a.m. when he was struck and thrown from his bike. The vehicle continued north.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The California Highway Patrol closed the lanes for about an hour to investigate.

Chula Vista police officers helping with the closure were blocking an on-ramp of northbound I-5 when a man showed up in a vehicle with heavy front-end damage and wanted to speak with officers.

The man, believed to be the driver who hit the motorcycle, has been arrested for questioning.
